VFL Round 2 2022
Footy’s back and with 23 players playing for Coburg and only three injured players unavailable for selection, the weekend saw 16 Coburg players available at community football level to press their claims for selection.

NAB League
Harry Andronaco returned to the Calder Cannons, kicking a goal as they recorded a narrow win over the GWS Giants Academy at Highgate Reserve.
VAFA
Josh Watson lined up for Collegians as they took on Caulfield Grammarians at the Glen Huntly Oval. Watson was named amongst Collegians’ best as they recorded an upset 13-point win. Watson was very strong around the contest in the wet conditions which made the difference for the Lions.
Old Carey with the Jepson Brothers, Tom and Ben along with Max Thompson, Dylan Thomas and Jono Marsh all lined up for the Panthers as they took on Williamstown CYMS at Fearon Reserve, losing by 15 points. Thomas on his Old Carey debut was named their best player, and Max Thompson was also named amongst the best and kicked two goals. Ben Jepson was serviceable coming back from injury while Tom Jepson and Marsh (also on debut) contributed well on the day.
Macgregor Cameron picked up from where he left off in 2021, kicking a goal and being named in the best players for Monash Blues as they defeated Old Geelong by 42 points at Monash University’s Frearson Oval.
EDFL
Daniel Guccione was named amongst Pascoe Vale’s best as they produced a four goal to one third term to overcome a gallant Glenroy by 20 points at Sewell Reserve.
Bailey Ryan lined up for Hillside as they went down to Roxburgh Park by 7 points at the Lakeside Oval.
Northern FL
Ryan Sturgess and Nathan Howard turned out for Bundoora at the JE Moore Oval as they took on West Preston Lakeside, going down by 37 points. Howard was named the Bulls best player while Sturgess was serviceable returning from injury.
North Heidelberg with the returning Jhye Baddeley-Kelly and MacLeod with Trent Warren on debut lined up against each other at Shelley Reserve. Baddeley-Kelly in his first match for North Heidelberg since 2019 was named amongst their best, but it wasn’t enough as MacLeod an upset 40-point win with Warren being serviceable.
Josh Kemp (Gisborne) and Riley Mason (Seymour) didn’t play on the weekend due to their competitions not yet starting for 2022.
