SEWFL MATCH PREVIEW – ROUND 3

By Mathew Asciak

Where and When:

Bunguyan Reserve, Tyabb on Saturday 7th May (Seniors)

Karingal Football Club, Karingal on Friday 6th May (Development)

Last time we met:

R11 2021 @ Bunguyan Reserve

Coburg: 5.7.37

Tyabb: 2.6.18

In testing conditions majorly affected by extreme fog, it was the Lions who adapted to the conditions the best, running out 19-point victors.  Jaime Nankiville was a standout for the away side, booting four goals, with Alana Wenban and Teagan Brett also among the best performers in a tough win.

The Development side will be facing off against Karingal for the first time.

Form:

Both the senior and development squads have made a fantastic start to the season, with both sides currently unbeaten after the opening two rounds and sitting on top of their respective leagues with percentages over 200.  The development side have particularly frugal on the defensive end, having only conceded one goal thus far this season.

This week’s opponents, Tyabb and Karingal are looking to bounce back from losses in their previous outings.  Tyabb were unable to account for Frankston in the opening round, going down by 12 points.  Their round 2 clash against Mount Eliza did not go ahead, as Mount Eliza have since exited the competition, so they will be eager to get back in the win column against the Lions.

Karingal suffered a 40-point defeat in round 1 against Warragul Industrials and will be coming a bye in round 2.
