The Coburg Football Club is pleased to announce the first matchday squad of 2023 for the
round 1 game against Collingwood on Saturday March 25th.
The game is scheduled for an 11.05am start at Victoria Park, Collingwood and all Lions
members, fans and supporters are encouraged to get along in their red and blue gear to support
the team.
The game will be new coach Jamie Cassidy-McNamara’s first as Coburg FC’s Coach and first
as the senior coach in the VFL and comes against a club that he spent 6 years with,
Collingwood.
Like most round 1 VFL games there are a host of new faces and this year’s season opener is no
exception with up to 10 players making their Coburg FC debut and 4 players making their VFL
debuts.
Named in the squad and with the potential to make their VFL debuts are George Belcher, Sam
Mason, Dan Owen and Hugo McGlashan who all impressed during the 2023 preseason
matches.
The six players to potentially be making their Coburg FC debuts are Charlie Beasley, Liam
Podhajski, Kyle Weightman, Will Bella, and both Braden Andrews and Max Kennedy who would
be making their Coburg debut against their former club Collingwood where they spent the 2022
season.
The squad also features mainstays from the 2022 season and previous years such as Captain
Jesse Corigliano, Mitch Podhajski, Ryan Exon, Harry Nolan, Flynn Gentile and Josh
D’Intinosante amongst others.
Everyone within the club is excited to see this team take the field to kick start our 2023 VFL season campaign and we look forward to seeing many Coburg members in attendance.
