Coburg, in search of it’s first win of 2023 has named it’s 27 man squad to face Geelong at Piranha Park in round 6 of the VFL season.
Coming off a loss against a strong Box Hill outfit, Jackson Bowne, Max Thompson, Josh D’Intinosante, Ben Cameron and Aaron Gundry have been added to the squad with Max Simpson moved from the squad for this week’s game.
The initial squad of 27 players is shown below with the final team of 23 players to be finalised 24 hours before the game.
Jackson Bowne is in line to make his Coburg debut following strong form with Bundoora as a forward and midfielder. Bowne made his VFL debut with Richmond in 2022.
Max Thompson is yet to feature in the Coburg team in 2023 following his 10 games in 2022 but strong form in Heidelberg’s forward line has him in line for a callup.
Josh D’Intinosante last featured for Coburg in round 3 against the GWS Giants but a 4 goal haul for South Morang has him in the frame for a recall to the team.
Ben Cameron looks sure to return to the team following his 1 match suspension which he received in the loss to Williamstown in round 4 and ruckman Aaron Gundry has been added to the squad following his good form for Doncaster.
Coburg continue to search for it’s first win of the season following five defeats however there have been positive signs in recent weeks that the team is starting to gel and play some really solid football under coach Jamie Cassidy-McNamara.
Meanwhile the visitors Geelong will be preparing to head to Piranha Park for the first time since 2018 and have registered two wins from their five games with wins against Carlton and Werribee.
