Coburg, still searching for it’s first win of the 2023 VFL season, have announced the 28-man squad that will head to RSEA Park, Moorabbin to take on the Sandringham Zebras on Saturday.
Coming off a big loss against a very AFL-strong opposition in Brisbane, a team that featured 7 players that played for Brisbane in the AFL finals series in 2022, the Lions have come back to Melbourne and enjoyed a strong week on the training track with plenty of positives to take from that hitout.
Added to the squad are Josh D’Intinosante, following strong form for South Morang, Ingo Dammersmith who could make his VFL and Coburg debut following strong form for Caulfield Grammarians in the VAFA, Ryan Exon who has been going very well for East Ringwood and Daniel Johnston, who travelled with the team to Brisbane last weekend.
Josh Kemp, following some great goalkicking performances for Aberfeldie and Ben Rigoni who played well for the GVFL interleague team on the weekend have also been added to the squad.
Coming out of the team that played against Brisbane is Trent Warren and Max Kennedy. Kennedy suffered damage to his ribs and will be rested this week.
Coburg play against Sandringham who suffered a 20 point loss to GWS in the VFL last week and featured a VFL side with 11 St Kilda listed players including Jack Billings, Jack Bytel and Marcus Windhager and against Coburg may include Tim Membrey who potentially returns from injury through the VFL.
