Coburg has named its team to line-up against Kew in the 2023 VAFA Premier Reserves Grand Final after their triumphant victory in last weeks’ Preliminary Final against West Brunswick.
The Lions have two forced omissions from the team that was victorious last week in the Preliminary Final, with Jacqui Bromilow and Mikayla Kotas sustaining injuries in the first term. Lisa Halfpenny will also be unavailable for selection this Sunday.
Brittney Gray will replace Bromilow in midfield, while forwards Jazmine Smith and Armina Sherifi will also re-join the team for the finale.
Despite having the match played on their terms in the first half, the Lions’ inaccuracy in front of goal allowed for the Magpies to remain within arm’s reach. A last quarter blitz that involved 4 striaght goals was enough for Coburg to book their place in the Grand Final.
Coming into the match this Sunday, the Lions are currently on a six-game winning streak and have clearly peaked at the right time of the season as they have had two well-earned victories in both finals matches.
Kew had a very strong home and away season, winning 13 of 16 games but will be weary that their two defeats came at the hands of Coburg in rounds 6 and 17, with the Lions’ prevailing by 19 points in the most recent encounter.
Coburg were able to spread the goal kicking duties in that clash, with Malaya Rodezno, Annalise Vine and Mia D’Agostino all kicking two goals each.
