Our 2024 Coaching and High-Performance Team

As anticipation builds for the upcoming season, we are thrilled to introduce the 2024 coaching and high-performance team that will spearhead our journey. Leading the charge once again is Jamie Cassidy-McNamara, whose return as Head Coach signals a resurgence of determination and ambition within our ranks. Cassidy-McNamara’s grasp of modern strategy and unwavering dedication has been the driving force behind a strong pre-season.

Joining Cassidy-McNamara in our coaching team is the esteemed Trent Dumont, a former AFL player whose arrival as Midfield Coach provides for a new era of excellence. Dumont’s wealth of experience and expertise promises to revolutionise our midfield strategy and inspire our players to reach new heights of performance.

But the coaching brilliance doesn’t end there. We are proud to welcome Micheal Schmerling as our Forwards Coach, and welcome back Simon Pasinati as our Backline Coach, and James Saville as our Development Coach, rounding out our coaching group with their unique talents and unwavering commitment to player development and success.

“Since joining the Club, I’ve been nothing but impressed with the time, energy and effort the whole coaching group have put into the program. Led by Jamie, the program lends itself to getting the most out of everyone and providing a great base for individual development and creating a winning culture.

As a midfielder I have also been super fortunate to work closely with Trent Dumont, who only 1 year removed from the AFL, has offered insight from the coaches and players he has played under/with and providing his own learnings from his time in the system. We are super fortunate to have such a great resource who is so dedicated” Joel Trudgeon said.

In addition to our coaching staff, we are privileged to have a high-performance team dedicated to maximising our players’ potential both on and off the field. Under the leadership of Josh McPhee as High Performance manager and Strength & conditioning lead Ian Martin, and his team Luke Stutter, and Beth Dowling, our high-performance team is poised to optimise our players’ physical and mental readiness for the challenges ahead.

Furthermore, our dedicated training staff, led by Head Trainer Jasper Quick are committed to ensuring our players are in peak condition throughout the season.

Completing our high-performance team is Jake D’Elia as our Lead Physiotherapist and Caitlin D’Elia as our Lead Nutritionist, providing essential care and support to keep our players healthy, fuelled, and ready to dominate on the field.

Together, this ensemble of coaching and high-performance professionals embodies our commitment to excellence and the relentless pursuit of success, as we embark on this journey together, we are filled with excitement and belief for what the 2024 season holds.

“We, as the playing group are really lucky to have such a strong high-performance team behind us, who are experts in their field, pushing our limits both on the field and in the gym. It’s these standards that will hold us in good stead throughout season 2024. Pre-season has been completed at a really high level and we can’t wait to get stuck into the real deal this weekend against Sydney,” said Donovan Toohey.

In addition to our esteemed coaching and high-performance teams, we are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers whose contributions are invaluable to our club. From managing game-day logistics, to assisting with administrative tasks, and everything in between, our volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our team. Whether they’re cheering from the sidelines or working tirelessly behind the scenes, their passion and commitment are the heartbeat of Coburg FC. Keep an eye out for our upcoming ‘Staff Spotlight’ series, where we’ll shine a well-deserved light on these unsung heroes and their remarkable contributions to our team success.
