Four more re-sign just before Christmas.

4 SigningsCoburg are pleased to announce ahead of Christmas that four of our players who managed their TAC Cup football with aligned side the Calder Cannons have re-committed for 2016- Ozgur Uysal, Sean Gregory, Aaron Christensen and Ricky Schraven.

The most notable of the four, Ozgur backed up his outstanding form in the second half of the 2014 season with an even better 2015. As a result, he managed a second placing in the Jim Sullivan Medal, and relocated position from the 2014 VFL Team of the Year from the Half Forward Flank to the 2015 Team of the Year into the Midfield. Having been considered unlucky not to have been taken by an AFL club the past two seasons, Ozgur was more than happy to re-commit to Coburg for 2016, where he had his first taste of VFL senior football in 2010.

Having spent two seasons on Essendon’s list, Sean came to Coburg bringing valuable experience to the club in terms of being in an AFL environment, an area Coburg lacked in 2014 as they returned to a standalone club. After being injured for much of the Pre Season, Sean plied his trade in the Development League before making his club debut in round seven against Collingwood. He would establish himself as an important part of the clubs structure, playing in all but one senior game for the rest of the season. With Michael Hartley recently being drafted to Essendon, Sean will be crucial to Coburg’s backline in 2016.

After managing six senior games as a Calder Cannon in 2014, Aaron managed nine games in 2015. Starting the season in the Development League, he worked his way into the senior side, before being injured and unable to retain his place in the side until later in the year. Despite being eligible for the Development League Finals, Aaron would miss them due to illness, therefore having his season ending prematurely.

Ricky added another two senior games in 2015, once again as 23rd man, having managed the same amount the previous season while listed with the Calder Cannons. The diminutive midfielder/small forward’s senior games both came in the sides big wins over Footscray and Port Melbourne, and also played a crucial role in the Development League side in 2015, as they went onto make the preliminary final.

We are pleased to have all four of these boys returning in 2016, not only in terms of our club achieving its list management goals, but also to further strengthen the clubs alignment with Calder.
