Ron has had a decorated playing and coaching career in local football, playing with local sides Epping, Broadmeadows and Aberfeldie, as well as Sunshine and Oak Park who he also later coached. At Oak Park, Ron was a four-time club best and fairest winner, a premiership coach and also was named coach in the club’s team of the century. He also coached EDFL sides Tullamarine, Pascoe Vale, Airport West and Coburg Districts, and VAFA side North Old Boys-St. Pats.
