Lions to open at home for another season upon the release of the 2016 fixture.
Fifteen teams, 21 rounds, and it all begins on the ninth of April.
Another season, and another interesting fixture that Coburg have been allocated, as they have been scheduled to open the season against the once again stand-alone North Ballarat at Piranha Park on Sunday the ninth of April.
This will be followed by a trip down the Citylink to North Port Oval against the old traditional rivals in Port Melbourne, which also marks the opening game of the year for the development side. The traditional Anzac Day encounter against the Box Hill Hawks will this year be held at Piranha Park, in the only encounter between both sides during the home and away season.
Round nine will mark Coburg’s first TV game of 2016- against the old aligned side in Richmond at Piranha Park, which will be televised by the seven network. While TV games have been allocated up until round fifteen, rounds sixteen, seventeen and twenty one will be still yet to be decided. Rounds eighteen to twenty will have no VFL coverage due to the Olympic Games.
The first half of the season will also consist of trips to Simonds Stadium, Preston City Oval and Eureka Stadium.
The second half of the season sees a return game against Port Melbourne at home, as well as home fixtures against Sandringham, Footscray and Casey. The last three games of the year will consist of away fixtures against Collingwood, Frankston and Richmond. This is due to finals revenue opportunities at Piranha Park with the local football and women’s football finals.
While the development side as previously mentioned will open their account against Port Melbourne, they also finish the season at North Port as well, the last of three encounters. Coburg will also play the Northern Blues three times, as well as twice against the Casey Scorpions, Frankston, Sandringham and Williamstown.
Prices for entry will be $10 for Adults, $5 for concession and free for those under the age of 15. The VFL Legendary Finals series will begin on the 3rd of September, with the Grand Final to be played on the 25th of that month.
The fixture will also look at the WVFL curtain raiser opportunities throughout the year which will be announced in coming months.
