Another versatile Cannons tall joins the Lions!

20161114_1145510Coburg has its second Calder Cannon join the club ahead of the 2017 campaign, in promising key tall Jack Reaper.

Reaper, like his fellow Coburg recruit and Cannons teammate in Captain Jaidyn Owen, is a key position player who can play at either end. Although he did have some stints as a key forward, he was a permanent fixture at Fullback throughout the 2016 TAC Cup campaign.

Jack’s better performances came early in the season in games against the Eastern Ranges and Gippsland Power (managing 17 disposals and 12 marks), and was one of the better performers in the finals loss to Oakleigh. Although lightly framed, Jack possesses a strong set of hands and is able to read the play incredibly well.

Upon signing with the club, Jack was delighted to be starting his VFL journey at Piranha Park and can’t wait to begin. “It’s just another opportunity to showcase my talent and enjoy some footy this year. Plenty of hard work to push into the seniors, but hopefully I can play the defensive or forward role, preferably down back but we’ll wait and see.”

Sebastian Spagnuolo, List and Recruiting Manager was quite happy to secure the reliable key position player, continually improving the alignment between both clubs. “We are excited to have Jack join our club in 2017.  He offers us great versatility as he can play forward and back in key positions. He has a tremendous work ethic, and as a defender he’s shown to be able to take crucial intercept marks.”

“Jack has had a fantastic year in 2016 with the Calder Cannons and we’ll be looking for him to carry that on for Coburg in 2017 and beyond,” Spagnuolo added.
