Promising young Frankston Forward signs!

20161120_170024Coburg are pleased to confirm that the highly rated Blake Mullane has committed to the club for 2017, signing from Frankston.

A former Dandenong Stingrays TAC Cup graduate, Blake has managed 22 games of senior VFL football since debuting with the Dolphins in 2014 during an outstanding year as an under 19-year-old. He managed 12 games in the back half of the 2016 season, having missed the start due to injuries sustained towards the end of 2015 and from the 2016 preseason.

A hard at it medium sized forward, Mullane plays a contested brand of football and can also provide outside run off a wing. He averaged 17 possessions in his twelve games for the season, with one of his more impressive performances being the round 19 clash with Coburg where he managed three goals as Frankston gallantly went down.

One of many Dolphins to find new homes for 2017, Mullane will join Ryan Exon at Piranha Park, and he can’t wait to begin

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity, I see Coburg like Frankston, stand-alone and I look forward to push up Coburg and hopefully play some finals footy next year.”

Sebastian Spagnuolo, Coburg List & Recruiting Manager was thrilled to have secured the signature of the former Mornington Peninsula Junior.

“Blake is a really exciting player that brings a hard edge to our team and to our forward line for 2017. He’s strong, is a tough competitor and has shown the ability to hit the scoreboard at VFL level already.”

“Even though there will be a fair amount of travel required for him, we’re very happy that Blake has chosen Coburg as the best fit for him to continue his VFL career.”
