Promising youngster Mioni seeks a fresh start at Piranha Park.

 Coburg are pleased to announce the signing of Alex Mioni from Port Melbourne.

A former TAC Cup graduate with the Oakleigh Chargers, Mioni’s career has been dogged by injury and has made the move to the Lions looking for a change of scenery. Mioni joined the Borough for 2015, after his top age year in the TAC Cup was interrupted by season ending surgery.

A promising 2015 saw him breakthrough for two appearances as 23rd man, however 2016 was less of the same, and was unable to break through for any senior appearances.

Mioni is a possesses an outstanding running ability, and is best suited to playing in a wing type role. Standing at 189 centimetres, he was named to play in the AFL Victoria Young Guns game at 2015’s end.

While he enjoyed his time at the Borough, Mioni joined the group following the Christmas/New Year break and is looking forward to grabbing the opportunity with both hands at Piranha Park.

“I reckon just the opportunity here, with a good group of boys, young list, and working towards something.”

“I reckon the future’s pretty bright here, with the young list at present.”

List & Recruiting Manager Sebastian Spagnuolo was pleased with the addition of the athletic winger to the 2017 list.

“We’re pleased that Alex has decided to join our football club for 2017,” said Spagnuolo.

“He battled injuries in 2016, but did play some Senior VFL Football in 2015.”

“Alex will give us added flexibility with his size and running ability.”
