Coburg’s Development Team have been defeated by 29-points against Sandringham this morning at Piranha Park.
With the deficit just 13 points at three-quarter time and four lead changes throughout the second half, the Zebras kicked away to finish the day 7.14 (56) to 12.13 (85).
The start of the third term saw Coburg in front for the first time all day, but instant responses from Sandringham saw them regain the lead.
Despite the disappointing end, the Development boys showed some positive signs and worked hard right up until the final siren.
Quick handballs and fast running provided opportunities for Coburg to score, but they struggled to make them count.
Whilst the Lions also managed to get their hands on the ball more, recording 345 overall disposals to the Zebra’s 269, early missed shots on goal ended up hurting them.
After leaving the ground early last weekend due to injury, Sam Lowson managed to boot three goals and collect 16 disposals.
Other major ball-winners included James El Moussalli, finishing with a game-high 31 touches, Christian Burgess (23 disposals), Tyler Curtis (21 disposals) and Luke Bunker (also 21 disposals).
The Lions now have a win-loss record of 2-2.
Next Saturday will see the Development side take on Box Hill with the first bounce at 9:30am, so bring the whole family down to Piranha Park to get behind the Burgers.
