The Coburg Football Club is pleased to announce they have received a $3 million grant from the Andrews Labor Government, which will go towards redeveloping the Coburg City Oval.
State Member for Pascoe Vale Lizzie Blandthorn MP handed over the cheque on Saturday afternoon, with the pavilion, change-rooms, kitchen, and kiosk to undergo improvements to provide first-class facilities for players and spectators.
A new multi-purpose area, along with an upgrade to outdoor areas including the public toilets, will also be developed with this funding.
Putting in over 18 months of long, hard work behind the scenes, both Coburg General Manager Sebastian Spagnuolo and Coburg President Kevin Breen couldn’t be happier with the result, and were proud to accept the cheque on the club’s behalf.
“This funding announcement is the catalyst for a period of great excitement at our football club and for our community in and around Coburg,” GM Spagnuolo said.
“An updated facility, one that caters to all abilities, ages and both men and women is required, and we are thrilled that this investment by the State Labor Party will provide a major boost to us realising our dreams of having a venue we can be proud of.”
“Over the coming months we will receive further updates and will continue to update our members along the way during the project planning phase and then through to the final construction process.”
“For our footballers, both current and future, men and women, our goal is to have a football venue that rivals all other state league football venues as the best.”

The grant is part of a $60 million Community Sports Fund announced by the Labor Government.
