Coburg are another step closer to finalizing its Coaching Staff for 2019, with Brent Taylor joining from the Calder Cannons.
Originally from Kerang where he played his Junior Football, Taylor would go on to play TAC Cup with the Bendigo Pioneers where he would graduate to the VFL with the Bendigo Bombers.
Following his time in the VFL, Taylor would play his footy with Kerang before being forced to retire due to injury.
Taylor would begin his coaching with Aberfeldie’s Juniors in 2017 and lead its Division One Under 17’s to a Premiership. It would then result in him joining the Calder Cannons as its U18 Backline Coach for the 2018 TAC Cup season.
Taylor is also a Secondary School Teacher by trade & joins Ben Osborne as part of the Coaching Staff to assist Leigh Adams in 2019.
Now back in the VFL system a decade since being involved in his playing days, Taylor is excited to take on a new challenge at VFL Level.
“I’m really looking to working with the boys as well as working on their defensive pressure, I think it’s a really good culture down here and everyone’s willing to learn so that’s exciting moving forward into this season.”
“I’m looking forward to really developing these boys, they’ve all come down here with the dream of making it to the top level, so its about as much as we can teach them and develop them and see how far we can take it so I’m really looking forward to those challenges,” Taylor said.
GM Sebastian Spagnuolo was pleased to have secured Brent’s services for 2019 and offer him the opportunity to further expand, learn & develop his coaching.
“We’re excited and looking forward to working with Brent in 2019. Our club was attracted to Brent’s enthusiasm to learn aswell as his positive personality and teaching background which suits our young list very well. He’s already made a great impact at training and forming great relationships with our players already,” said Spagnuolo.
