Lions co-captain Ryan Exon has high hopes for on-field success in 2022, largely driven by the club’s active recruitment over the post season.
“[It is] a really exciting group and a few new recruits which is also really exciting, and everyone is tearing up the track in pre-season,” Exon said.
Exon also voiced his hopes for an uninterrupted season, as the previous two have been altered heavily.
With a few new faces joining Piranha Park this season, Exon heaped praise on their performances thus far in pre-season and their willingness to buy into the culture at the club.
“A few of the Ruckmen, Jono Marsh, Mac Cameron are looking really strong and I think are going to combine with ‘big Swizz’ and it’s going to be a really big battle for the number one and two ruck spots,” Exon explained.
“Sammy McLarty down back is looking really solid and a couple of the other key backs, Trent Warren and Guccione… are looking really good.”
“Everyone we have bought along is really into the culture and looked really good, so it’s exciting.”
The club will be making their annual trip to Longwood this weekend for their pre-season camp, giving the fresh faces a chance to bond with their new teammates and staff.
“I think the pre-season camp is mostly about bonding, especially for the new guys seeing what Coburg is about,” Exon said.
