Coburg will get their 2022 campaign underway this Saturday against Port Melbourne at Piranha Park.
After staking their claims in pre-season, newcomers to Coburg Edyn Sibbald, Lachlan Walker, Flynn Gentile and Ben Overman have been named to play for the club.
It is a day with even greater significance for Gentile and Overman, who will be making their VFL debuts; with Sibbald playing for Essendon’s VFL side and Walker having played for the Box Hill Hawks.
Standing at 200cm, Sibbald adds another formidable force in the Burgers forward 50 alongside captain Pete McEvoy, with Walker adding more versatility to the back half with his experience playing in midfield at Box Hill.
After getting a couple of games under his belt in pre-season, lively small forward Josh D’Intinosante will play for the Lions. After sustaining an injury in the early part of last season, D’Intinosante returned to play in Round 16 of 2021 in what turned out to be the final match of our season.
Also making his long-awaited return to the line-up is big man Adam Swierzbiolek, after recovering from an ACL injury sustained at the beginning of last season.
