Local League Lions: Round 3 2022

Many Lions once again put their hand up for senior selection ahead of next Sunday’s Round 4 clash with Casey.

Josh Watson kicked a goal as Collegians made it two from two coming from behind to defeat Old Trinity at home by 11 points.

Dylan Thomas, Max Thompson and Ben and Tom Jepson all played for Old Carey as they went down to Beaumaris by 68 points at the Banksia Reserve. Thompson and Ben Jepson both were named in the best while Thompson also kicked two goals.

MacGregor Cameron was named in the best once again for Monash Blues as they defeated UHS-VU at the JJ Holland Park by 57 points.

EDFL

Aaron Clarke made his debut for Avondale Heights as they went down to Maribyrnong Park by 11-points on Saturday Night at the Monk Oval. Clarke kicked five goals all in the first half and was a constant threat all night, being named their best player.

Daniel Guccione continued his strong start to the season, being named in the best once again for Pascoe Vale, but it wasn’t enough as the Panthers went down to newly promoted East Keilor by 18 points at Raeburn Reserve.

Northern Football League

Ryan Sturgess and Nathan Howard contributed to Bundoora’s first win of the season as they defeated Montmorency by nine points at Yulong Reserve.  Sturgess suffered an injury and will be assessed by Coburg’s medical team this week.

Trent Warren played for MacLeod in their 25-point loss to Heidelberg at DeWinton Park.

Eastern Football League

Liam Whelan returned as East Ringwood recorded a 25-point win over Mitcham at home.

Goulburn Valley Football League

Riley Mason managed three goals and was named amongst the best on his debut for Seymour as they had a huge 127-point win over Benalla at Kings Park.
