Form

After a memorable first up win against Port Melbourne the Lions came back down to earth last week being defeated by seven goals against GWS up in Sydney. The Giants got out of the blocks quickly leading by six goals at the first change. The Lions fought hard all day in the final three quarters keeping the scores close to even for the rest of the contest. This week another tough challenge awaits against an undefeated Casey Demons side. The Demons sit 3-0 with strong wins against Frankston in Round 1 and Williamstown last week by 35 points intersected by a tight victory over Essendon.

Preview

An exciting challenge presents itself to the Lions this week facing a strong Casey side with players that have AFL experience such as Majak Daw and Luke Dunstan. The rampaging Demons are dominating the AFL and the clubs form has translated to the reserves with Casey sitting 3-0. Nothing but the best effort of the Lions this week will be enough and after a solid start to the season the boys seem primed to be up for the task.

The Lions have made four changes from last week’s side Josh D’Intinosante, Harry Andronaco, Nathan Boucher and Ben Overman make way for the incoming Ben Jepson, Aaron Clarke, Trent Warren (debut) and Dylan Thomas (Coburg debut) come into the side.

An exciting day for Trent Warren who will be making his VFL and Coburg debut. Warren has had an incredible journey going over to the USA to play college basketball for four years before coming back home and re-invigorating his Aussie Rules career. Warren was recruited from Box Hill at the start of this season. Warren will be joined by Dylan Thomas making his debut for the Lions. Thomas was picked up from Collingwood and played a single game for them last season.

The game will be streamed live and free on the AFL website and app.
