Local and NAB League Lions

On a weekend where most Lions not selected for VFL had byes, those who did play staked their claims for VFL selection.

NAB League

After making his VFL debut last week, Harry Andronaco returned to the Calder Cannons where they took on the Western Jets at Highgate Reserve. Andronaco was busy all day and finished with 18 disposals and 4 tackles but it wasn’t enough as the Jets took out a 37-point win.

After turning out with the VAFA’s Old Scotch last week, new Coburg signing Alex Lukic turned out for the Oakleigh Chargers as they took on the Eastern Ranges at the Box Hill City Oval. The Chargers got out to a handsome early lead with Lukic looming ominous kicking two goals and his strong marking a feature. The Chargers went on to win by 17 points.

EDFL

In the new look EDFL Division One Good Friday clash between Hillside and Sunbury Kangaroos, Bailey Ryan managed a goal in the Sharks big win at Hillside Reserve.

Northern FL

Nathan Howard continued his strong early season form, as Bundoora overcame a 19-point half time deficit to record a stirring 20-point win over North Heidelberg at Shelley Reserve.

Bendigo FL

After being the travelling emergency with Coburg last weekend, Josh Kemp began his 2022 season with a bang, kicking seven goals in Gisborne’s dismantling of Kyneton at the Kyneton Showgrounds. Kemp managed a seven goal first half as Gisborne produced a nine goal to none second quarter to record a 91-point win.

Goulburn Valley FL

Riley Mason managed two goals for Seymour, however it wasn’t enough as they went down by a goal away to Mansfield.
