Local League Lions: Round Six

Plenty of Lions who missed out on VFL selection put themselves in the frame for a callup to VFL selection.

VAFA

Alex Lukic returned to the Old Scotch seniors with a three-goal effort as they held off Old Brighton by seven points at the Camberwell Sports Ground.

Josh Watson recovered sooner than expected from a wrist injury for Collegians in their loss to St. Kevins at the TH King Oval.

Jono Marsh returned from his two-game suspension and was named Old Carey’s best player in their 83-point loss away to St. Bedes where he dominated in the ruck and also managed a goal. Tom Jepson also managed two goals.

EDFL

Aaron Clarke managed two goals for Avondale Heights, but it wasn’t enough as they lost away to Essendon Doutta Stars by 58-points.

Daniel Guccione played for Pascoe Vale in their 27-point win away to Greenvale.

The big news from the weekend of local Lions action was the return from a 12 month ACL injury for Ben Reddick for Strathmore in the Premier Division Reserves as the Mores defeated East Keilor by 72-points.

Bailey Ryan kicked a goal as Hillside went down by 21-points away to Rupertswood.

Northern FL

Nathan Howard played in Bundoora’s away win to Hurstbridge, where he rucked in the Bulls 59-point win.

Eastern FL

Liam Whelan played in a big win at home for East Ringwood, defeating Beaconsfield.

Bendigo FL

Josh Kemp continued his rich goalkicking form for Gisborne, managing 7 goals in a 147-point rout of Maryborough away.

Goulburn Valley FL

Riley Mason kicked a goal and was once again named in the best however Seymour went down at home to Mooroopna.
