This will be the first time Coburg have played against Devon Meadows

Form:

The last outing for the senior side before last week’s bye was a comprehensive 38-point victory against Mornington at Piranha Park.  The match was well and truly up for grabs at the main break, with the Lions taking a 9-point lead.  A 5 goal to 1 second half was enough to secure the comfortable winning margin, courtesy of a 4- goal haul from Koropeckyj.

The development squad continued their undefeated run this season last week with a hard fought 8-point win over Bass Coast.

A close contest in the first quarter saw the scores level at the first break. The second quarter started in a much more scrappy form as neither side could really get control of the ball and dictate how the game would be played until the Coasters were able to hit the scoreboard for a major to give them some breathing room and the lead. Though the Lions looked to hit back to keep things close in before the half time break, time would ultimately be against them as they left the first half six points down.

Going into the third term, the Lions came out strong after a strong rev up from the coaches, keeping the ball locked into their attacking 50, however Bass Coast would find feet again and with smothering defense that killed any momentum. Things seemed to get worse as the Lions starting ruck; Brianna Yelland, was pulled out of the game due to a facial injury that required to be looked at by the trainer who ruled her out for the rest of the contest. Though the Lions were able to score another major to level the score, Forward-Ruck; Mikayla Kotas, would also come out of the game due to a leg injury forcing utility player Alana Wenban to ruck. The Lions were able to take the lead before the end of the quarter after a free kick was awarded to Chloe Pripic who was able to score a third major for the burgers.

With the contest still close the going into the fourth, it would be Bass Coast making the first move slotting through a goal after locking the ball into their attacking half of the ground to take a one point lead. With their backs against the wall, the Lions needed to act smart and fast to get the momentum back and keep the ball in their attacking 50. After a flurry of minor scores it would be like déjà vu, as Alana Wenban would break the line again and boot home a major to give Coburg the late lead they needed and breathing room to control the tempo once more until the final siren as they went on to keep their undefeated streak of 5-0 alive. The Lions held the home side to one goal in the 2nd half.
