Local League Lions: Round 12

With our Men’s team having a bye on the weekend, there was an opportunity for some of our players to represent their community level teams.  The Queen’s Birthday weekend meant that there was only a total of eight Coburg players that had a game of football on the weekend.

EDFL

Ben Reddick returned for Strathmore in their one-point loss to Aberfeldie in the marquee game played at Windy Hill.

Northern FL

Trent Warren played in MacLeod’s narrow win over North Heidelberg at home, in the annual long weekend clash played between both clubs.

Eastern FL

In his first Eastern Football League senior game since 2019, Luke Nelson kicked a goal in Noble Park’s 30-point home win over Balwyn in their annual long weekend encounter.

Bendigo FL

Josh Kemp played in Gisborne’s 63-point win over Eaglehawk away, continuing their unbeaten start to the season.

Goulburn Valley FL

Riley Mason kicked two goals in Seymour’s 31-point win away to Rochester as they continue to surge back up the ladder.

Ovens and Murray FL

Charlie Thompson returned to Wangaratta Rovers for the first time since 2019, kicking a goal in their 14-point loss to arch rivals Wangaratta Magpies.

Gippsland FL

Jack Maibaum made his debut for Warragul, being named in the best but it wasn’t enough with them going down by 43-points to Bairnsdale away in the Gippsland Leagues long weekend clash.

VAFA

Mac Cameron turned out again for Monash Blues in the VAFA’s 3rd tier of senior football and played his part in a 38 point win over Marcellin.

Stay tuned for next week’s edition of Local League Lions as many Coburg listed players will be out representing their community level teams.
