Many Lions continued to press their claims for VFL selection and following the unfortunate events from the weekend with a few injuries, some will be hoping their form at local level was good enough for a call up.
VAFA
With the VAFA Premier and Premier B competitions all having the second of the two-week hiatus, this meant there was no football played for Josh Watson, Ben Overman, Harry Andronaco, Alex Lukic, Max Thompson, Dylan Thomas and Tom Jepson.
Macgregor Cameron was named in the best players once again for Monash Blues in another big win, this time over Preston Bullants.
EDFL
Ben Reddick kicked a goal in Strathmore’s big 50-point win over East Keilor. The win has put Strathmore in the top four for the first time for the season.
Aaron Clarke made a much-anticipated return from injury and once again managed five goals for Avondale Heights as they secured an 11-point win over Essendon Doutta Stars, edging them closer to safety from premier division relegation. Clarke has managed 17 goals from four games at EDFL level this year.
Daniel Guccione played in Pascoe Vale’s big 94-point win over Greenvale, which saw them move up to second place in the Premier Division competition.
Bailey Ryan managed three goals in a big Hillside win over Rupertswood at home.
Northern FL
Trent Warren played his best game for the season with MacLeod, as they notched up an important 25-point win over Whittlesea keeping them in touch for finals contention.
Luke Bunker again played for Heidelberg as they notched up a big win away to Montmorency, further establishing themselves as the team to beat in Division One.
Nathan Howard again played in the ruck with Bundoora going down in an upset at home to Hurstbridge, by 15 points.
Stay tuned for next week’s edition hopefully with a lot more Lions to feature.
