With the last Coburg FC bye of the 2022 VFL season taking place, it presented many Lions with a chance to either represent their local club again or push their claim for a VFL game towards seasons end.
VAFA
Ben Overman was named in the best and Harry Andronaco managed two crucial goals as St.Bernards held out Caulfield Grammarians for a 13-point win at home. The win keeps their hopes of avoiding relegation alive.
Alex Lukic kicked a goal for Old Scotch but it wasn’t enough as they went down to Collegians with Josh Watson by 25 points.
Dylan Thomas managed a goal in Old Carey’s 36-point loss to St. Bedes Mentone at home with the Jepson Brothers Ben and Tom, Max Thompson and Jonathan Marsh also featuring.
Macgregor Cameron played in a 71-point Monash Blues win at home to Marcellin.
EDFL
Aaron Clarke once again managed five goals for Avondale Heights, however they fell short losing to Keilor who featured Corey Ellis. Ellis was named in the best just like Clarke was, and managed a goal.
Bailey Ryan managed a goal in Hillside’s 9-point loss to Westmeadows.
Flynn Gentile returned to Airport West as they had a 79-point win over second placed Tullamarine.
Northern FL
Jhye Baddeley-Kelly managed a best on ground performance for North Heidelberg as they went down to Greensborough by eight points.
Braedyn Gillard returned to Montmorency to kick a goal and be named amongst their best in a 29-point win over Whittlesea.
Eastern FL
Adam Swizerbiolek made his debut for South Croydon, as he kicked a goal in a big 86-point win over Blackburn at Cheong Park.
Sam Lowson continued his comeback from injury, managing six goals in a best on ground display for an East Ringwood 45-point win over Lilydale.
GVFL
Riley Mason continues his improvement and good form with Seymour as they notched up a 33-point win over Kyabram at home. Mason managed three goals and was once again named in the best.
Gippsland FL
Jack Maibaum represented Warragul with another best on ground performance, however they were not good enough for Leongatha going down by 63 points.
