The Senior team has made four changes to its side that faced Old Scotch last week, looking to keep their finals hopes alive with just three games remaining.
After strong performances for the Development team last week, Mia D’Agostino, Bree Unthank and Abi Adams are recalled to the Seniors. Rounding out the inclusions is Laila Zayat, who is back after being unavailable last week.
Making way for this weeks’ inclusions are Steph Filbay, who suffered a shoulder injury against Scotch, Teagan Brett, Danica Pedersen and Phoebe Chisholm.
Second year Lion Brittney Gray returns after suffering an injury during her VFLW season with Williamstown.
Annalise Vine returns after two weeks out, while forward Bowen Hackett re-joins the forward set-up. Taylan Merrick is back to bolster the midfield group and Alex Volk will line-up for her first match in Coburg colours for 2023.
There are several notable omissions from the team, with Jacqui Bromilow, Hayley Baber and Jazmine Smith all missing due to unavailability this week.
With just three games remaining in the 2023 VAFA season, our Seniors’ finals hopes are on the line every game with just 4 points separating 7th and 4th, with the Collegians, this week’s opposition, currently having one game in hand.
A tough day at home last week against a talented Old Scotch outfit, only mustering a single goal from the boot of Teagan Brett.
Despite the disappointing result, defender Lauren Suleiman had a solid outing off half back, collecting a team high 16 disposals along with 5 tackles and 3 clearances.
Teah Stepan was strong in and around the contest and gave her all across the four quarters, finishing with a team high 9 tackles.
On the Development side, the win against Old Scotch took their season win tally to 10 and currently sit on 3rd spot on the ladder, two wins off Kew in top spot. A win against 4th placed Collegians will seemingly solidify a top 3 finish in their debut VAFA season.
Sarah Jolly was superb for the Lions in round 15, collecting 20 disposals and 7 clearances, while Julia McArdle registered a team high 25 touches and was a constant threat off the Lions half-back flank.
