Coburg has named its final team to take on Essendon at DSV stadium this Saturday as the Lions look to wrap up their 2023 season with a victory, naming debutant and recent signing from Melbourne University Blacks, Campbell Moorfield.
Campbell had an exceptional stint at University Blacks since joining them in 2016, named at centre half-back in the 2022 VAFA Premier B team of the year and was subsequently rewarded with his great season with the role as a co-captain for the 2023 season.
The tall defender is currently a Victorian State VAFA representative for 2023.
Head coach Jamie Cassidy-McNamara has also recalled Josh Watson, replacing Tom McKenzie and Daniel Johnston.
A lacklustre third term derailed the Lions chances of securing the elusive first victory of the season, as the Dolphins opened a five- goal buffer at 3QT, otherwise, the Lions were more than in the game.
Flynn Gentile led the way for the Burgers, collecting 29 touches and amassing 7 tackles and 5 clearances.
While Mitch Podhajski had another productive day in front of goal, kicking 3 majors and took 7 marks.
We look forward to seeing all the travel Coburg faithful at DSV Stadium to support the team for the last time for the season!
Go Lions!
IN: Moorfield, Watson
OUT: McKenzie, Johnston
