DUGUID BECOMES LIONS SKIPPER

The winds of change have come through Piranha Park in the 2023 off season and preseason
both in the club’s Womens and Mens programs with a new Womens Coach, new Mens Coach
and new Mens Captain and there’s now one more exciting change to announce.

Amy Duguid has been appointed the new Captain of the Coburg Football Club’s Womens team
for season 2023.

Amy joined the club in 2022 and played a pivotal role in helping the team get to the SEWFL
Premier Division Grand Final and is known by teammates for being a supportive, caring and
hard working teammate and is very respected within the team.

Supporting Duguid will be a leadership group consisting of Amy Mitchener as Vice Captain and
Claire Cashman, Kurtis Shine and Morgan McNally as leadership group members.
The change with the Captaincy comes after Maddie Edwards has decided to pursue VFLW
playing opportunities with Williamstown in 2023, understandably Maddie had to step down as
Captain of Coburg.

Coburg FC is very supportive of Maddie’s VFLW playing interests and are thankful of the
contribution made by Maddie as the club’s inaugural Captain across 2021-2022.
Luckily for Coburg though, Maddie will still be a Coburg player when not on Williamstown duties.

Once the change of Captaincy was required, Senior Coach Tom Chitsos started the process of
appointing a new Captain, getting the votes of the playing group was a key part of the process.
The new leadership group will be given an immediate opportunity to continue the great work by
Maddie Edwards and others when the team heads off to Daylesford on Saturday 11th February
for it’s 2023 preseason camp which promises to offer fantastic team bonding opportunities but
will also see them grinding out more hard work together.

The Womens team has been training hard since December and is excited to embark on the new
journey of being in the VAFA competition which kicks off for Coburg on Sunday April 16th with
the team visiting Melbourne University.

Practice matches are being organised currently and soon will be communicated, we encourage
all Coburg FC members to get along and support our Womens team in 2023.

Stay tuned to Coburg FC socials to hear from Amy Duguid and Tom Chitsos.
