“I am really pleased with the way I have been welcomed and embraced at Coburg,” he said.

“We can take a lot of positives from 2021, the most important though would be our belief that we are good enough because we are a very young group,“ Nelson said.
“Even though we weren’t rewarded with wins, we got a lot of learning out of those close losses both as a team and individual perspective,” Nelson explained.

Primarily applying his trade in the forward 50, Nelson aspires to get more midfield time in 2022, a sentiment that is shared by head coach Andrew Sturgess.  “We’re looking to have him play further up the field next year,” Sturgess explained.  “He is a really good runner… and is looking to elevate his game,” Sturgess said.

Sturgess had nothing but praise for the work that Nelson has put into improving himself as a players, citing the fact the he was the “first player to reach out to him once the season concluded to ask for areas to improve.”
