Senior women’s captain Maddie Edwards is looking forward to the opportunities the club’s reserve side will bring this season.
Edwards said that in 2022 she was excited to see the club build a stronger foundation.
“We’re coming into this year having two separate sides, so it just gives greater opportunity for growth and development especially aspiring players that do want to play in the ones,” she said.
“Having them have that time to actually still play a good level of footy but at the same time develop their skills and abilities to go further.”
Edwards believes that the reserves side will add much more depth to the club.
“Something we said we wanted to focus on at the end of last year as a leadership group, even though we are going to have this development side is making sure that we stick united and that with our values,” she said.
“Being able to play as one group even though its two separate teams will be super beneficial for the growth of the club as a whole, I think there will just be a lot more opportunity for even the younger girls coming in.”
“We have girls like Chloe [Prpic] that are coming through as a 17-year-old and just having that experience to play at a higher level despite still playing at a club level I think will be really beneficial for players like her and there’s plenty of them as well.”
“Just having that opportunity to allow players to play up and develop their skills even further, I’m just really excited for it I think it’s going to be a great experience.”
